and california, went storm warnings in effect in northern parts of state of washington and cascades over a foot of snow will be possible and mountain passes will be impacted. temperatures on the cool side in the 40s and 50. we are in the 60s across the state of california. in portions of the plains we have been enjoying a nice rebound in temperatures. 56 in minneapolis, 62 in kansas city. it's pretty nice day in the northeast, as well. 46 right now in new york city and 56 in cleveland. there was a big talk about a possible nor'easter coming up this week across portions of the northeast. that would have been a big issue but take a look at travel forecast as we head into mid-week, a big travel time of the year, we're expecting nice weather along the eastern half of the country, worldwide sunshine, it looks good as we head through the mid-week. westbound more stormy weather if northern parts of the california and in oregon and washington. >> gregg: in new york for the thanksgiving day parade, looks like a really nice day on thursday. thanks very much. >> heather: what is your favorite part of the

breaking news overnight from california. four men are in custody charged with planning to kill americans. the fbi says, the plot's ringleader was a follower of al awlaki. the terror leader who died in a drone attack last year. two of the men arrested told an fbi source they were planning violent jihad. >>> another major story on this busy travel day, a deadly storm is creating a soggy mess in the pacific northwest as well as in northern california. >> now, even by seattle standards, a lot of rain is coming down. that says a lot. already, more than even inches in coastal washington and oregon and still counting. and parts of the cascades and olympic mountains will be buried under 30 inches of snow. >> flooded roads, stranded drivers and also triggered a few mudslides, as well. on top of that, hurricane-force winds swept in, gusting as high as 114 miles per hour. some rough going out there. and the powerful winds were especially damaging along the oregon coast, where they toppled trees and knocked out power to thousands. one of those trees fell on a hunter's tent, killing him instantly. ot

this month by the california nurses association. >> the windchill wipers and a live shot of s.f. 0 foregoing. >> we are picking up some light rain this morning on storm tracker 4. initially it was up north of the golden gate bridge but we are seeing some stray showers in parts of san francisco. parts of the bay bridge and impacting some of the east bay as well. around the bay area you will need windchill wipers the one-on- one approach in san rafael into ocean beach over to you richmond district. we're detecting a dry break for the bay bridge right now. some of the showers and pushed their way east and we're seeing light rain on highway 13 over portions of the caldecott tunnel. satellite and radar shows this cold front pushing its way closer to the bay area. this is a slow-moving system and the bulk of the wet weather will fall into the overnight hours. i will walk to the timing of the storm coming up in my next report. >> we are still monitoring major counter in delays this morning there was a fatality about an hour ago in palo alto. northbound train no. 103 struck and killed a pedestrian.

a lot of rain from seattle right down through portland, oregon. and stretching down in to california, as well. there could be some delays in the seattle area. anyone traveling through the mountain passes we are seeing several inches of snow. been raining and snowing out that way since last weekend. so, travel troubles continue in the northwest but everywhere else we are seeing a good amount of sunshine for what's left of the travel this evening. tonight looks clear and not too cold so icy patches not an issue but tomorrow it will actually be a white thanksgiving across portions of northern north dakota, northern minnesota. but elsewhere, again, seeing sunshine. a couple of showers possible through the chicago area. nothing that should create too too many delays and still a nuisance but most people will already be in their destination getting to thanksgiving and then friday some of that lighter rain starting to spread eastward. otherwise, thanksgiving looks good. >> thanks so much for that. >>> for more on holiday travel, we're joined by wendy saks. toure? >> let's talk about the bigg
